Booststory Oak Sideboard — 4-Door Mid-Century Modern

The Booststory Oak Sideboard distills the mid-century modern design vocabulary into a piece of furniture that looks as resolved and contemporary today as the Scandinavian originals that inspire it looked in 1960 — a timelessness achieved through proportional precision, material restraint, and the refusal to add decorative elements that serve no structural or functional purpose. The carcase is constructed from solid European oak with hand-cut dovetail joints at all corners — a construction method that creates mechanical interlocking between the timber components, providing resistance to racking forces that glue and mechanical fastener joints cannot achieve equivalently. The four doors are each fitted with a recessed finger-pull carved directly into the oak face of the door, eliminating the need for applied hardware and maintaining the clean, uninterrupted oak surface that is the design’s central visual statement. Behind the doors, the left two compartments provide open shelving with one fixed center shelf for display objects, barware, and media equipment; the right two compartments each house three solid oak drawers on full-extension wooden runners for linen, cutlery, and smaller items requiring contained storage. The entire piece rests on four solid oak conical legs — turned to a slight taper from 45mm at the top shoulder to 30mm at the foot — that elevate the carcase 18cm from the floor, maintaining the visual lightness that prevents the piece from feeling heavy or imposing in the rooms it serves.
